ISA On Hold
The new vetting scheme ISA ( Independent Safe Guarding Authority )planned to go live later this year has been put on hold per Theresa May the Home Secretary.
Agencies had a legal requirement to ensure all staff supplied are ISA registered to comply with the new proposed legislation. This has now scrapped as compulsory registration is now not mandatory. ISA will still exist, but sources say it will only maintain banned list of individuals who are not allowed work with vulnerable groups.
CRB checks will remain unchanged and will have to be run annually for staff supplied to the NHS under the Buying Solutions framework agreements. This will apply to locums and doctors looking for agency locum jobs or locum doctor jobs through MPP Locums.
It would be interesting to calculate how much of the tax payers money has been wasted on this project where at the last minute, the project is scrapped. This has already cost agencies money implementing processes and systems to ensure they are complaint with new legislation only to be put on hold or scrapped months before the new system is to go live.
